He was also part of the Rat Pack with Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin, with whom he starred in several films.

Being as involved in the music industry as he was, Davis let out the pool house for the purpose of recording music. In fact, The Band recorded their second album in here. Apparently they had a good experience while recording at the home, as they write about it in the album cover itself. Walking back up the stairs and through the Great Room, another staircase leads up to a floor that wasn’t part of the original home. Up here you’ll find a home gym and spa-like bathroom, as well as the spacious master bedroom.

Elvis would spend an average of about three months in Palm Springs every year. Beyond offering detailed accounts of what life may have been like for some of the stars who lived here — and some who still do — Bannister reveals a wealth of knowledge about architecture. Right off of this downstairs living room is a bedroom that was originally occupied by Liza Minnelli when she lived here with her parents. On the opposite wall are built-in, floor-to-ceiling bookcases.

Senior Mobile Home Parks 55+ Senior Manufactured Home Communities

For example, many mobile home parks offer community pools, community fitness facilities, and events you can attend with the entire family. When it comes to the benefits mobile home parks offer, we have barely scratched the surface. We have not even included what some mobile home parks may offer in the form of amenities or perks. One of them that is important to note is that if you opt to go for leased land in a mobile home park or mobile home community, you will not be responsible for the property taxes. When compared to renting or buying a home, living in a mobile home, whether it is rented or purchased, is less expensive.

But it also exposes you to a higher risk of eviction if the park is bought by investors or developers. Although we live in a time of high inflation, mobile homes are beginning to offer more options than ever when it comes to finishes, the number of bedrooms, and even the yard size. This is all at a lower price than you would expect to pay for a traditional family home. Generally, mobile home living is rapidly becoming the designated choice for many people for various reasons. For starters, mobile home parks are designed to accommodate family living settings. Also, some parks are designed to host the aging population as their retirement home.

As affordability squeeze tightens, manufactured homes could offer some relief

Senior mobile home parks can also offer socialization opportunities. Studies show that loneliness can be a big problem for the 55+ community, and a great antidote for loneliness is living in an environment where it’s easy to make friends. However, you’ll find the largest concentrations of senior manufactured home retirement communities in certain areas. Many of these communities are located in popular retirement states that offer warm weather, beautiful scenery, and low tax rates. Most of these states happen to be in the Southeastern and Southwestern United States. This does depend on the park, but many people mention how much more peaceful their lives seem when they live in a trailer park.

Mobile home parks are also an option if you don’t mind being surrounded by others. Not surprisingly, most people have loved the home and many have wanted to buy it. What most of them don’t understand, including their agents, is that the home is not eligible for FHA, VA or other conventional financing. You see, a manufactured home on a leased lot, such as in a park, is not considered real estate.

living in a mobile home park

Another perk that many search for when deciding if they want to live in a mobile home park is something simple in nature, but important to everyone; community and friendship. When it comes to mobile home living, you still have factors to consider as mobile homeowners that can make an impact financially. When individuals decide to purchase a manufactured home, sometimes leasing a lot is the only financial option that makes sense for the situation. Long-term residents usually have a lease or rental agreement and pay their rent monthly.

Saving Money as a First Time Home Buyer

One park in particular where we had done about 10 homes started going downhill. We finally had to stop doing any work in that park, because it no longer brought in the type of home buyer that would pay the prices we needed to make a profit on the homes. According to energy.gov, hot water heaters are often set at 140 degrees Fahrenheit despite the fact that most households are capable of operating at 120 degrees Fahrenheit.

It might be worth setting up a carpool system with a neighbor or friend. You could also try starting a community garden if your mobile home park allows it. You can bundle your mobile home purchase together with the land if you’re looking to own property. Or if you already own property, you can purchase a mobile home to place on it.

What Makes Mobile Home Living an Attractive Option?

You could also request to get a gas, water, and electric meter set up outside of your home if you don’t already have one. Checking in with this daily can help you cut back and alert you when you’re using too much energy. Many parks have space rental in the $200-$300 per month range, which is appealing for anyone on a fixed income. Some parks may rent space for as high as $1,000 a month, but those parks usually offer special amenities like a gated community, security and on-sight maintenance. Despite the fact that mobile homes are inexpensive, knowing the exact cost of a home will help you better manage your finances. If you have been living in apartment complexes for a while, you may overlook the cost of lawn services, lot rent, and general repair and maintenance.
